Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

We are now accepting applications/resumes for a full-time Director to manage all aspects of the National Tropical Botanical Garden’s Kahanu Garden in Hana, on the island Maui, Hawaii.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Horticulture, Botany, Ethnobotany, Botanical Garden Management, or a related field. Experience in nonprofit management, tropical horticulture, knowledge of tropical plants (especially Hawaiian species), are all valued assets that will be considered in selecting the ideal candidate. Experience working with Hawaiian cultural practitioners and a familiarity with the Hawaiian language is essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills, managerial experience, computer competence, and successful grant writing are required. The successful applicant must demonstrate the ability to collaboratively work with a multicultural staff and community, Hawaiian cultural experts, and a multidisciplinary team of scientists, educators, and conservationists. Must also be highly motivated and a team player.
