Office Assistant

This position is located in the Pacific Islands Fish and Wildlife Office, Ecological Services Field Office in Honolulu, Hawaii. The incumbent serves as an Office Assistant to the Supervisory Administrative Support Assistant and is responsible for a variety of clerical functions necessary to support the complex operational activities in approximately 2,250 insular areas of the Pacific, characterized by more than 10 distinct cultures and seven political entities. The incumbent provides clerical support for a wide variety of national and scientific programs including the Divisions of Endangered Species (Vertebrate Conservation, Invertebrate Conservation, and Plant Conservation) and Habitat Conservation (Environmental Review, Environmental Contaminants, Conservation Partnerships, and HCPs/SHAs). The incumbent serves as a member of the Administrative Team.

DUTIES: Major Duties:

Assists with receiving telephone calls and visitors, screening those which can be handled without the supervisor's and/or staff participation. Arranges travel for all staff members of the Pacific Islands Fish and Wildlife Office, including volunteers and invitational travelers. Maintains a reliable system for requesting, scheduling, coordinating, and documenting (for budget purposes) each travel requirement. Provides clerical support for multiple scientific programs under the Office of Ecological Services. Assists with the preparation of ecological studies, assessments, biological opinions, and technical assistance reports.
