The Project Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a variety of projects in coordination with project managers, including: •A pilot outreach project primarily focused on the Kāne‘ohe Bay reef restoration project to inform and engage the community in TNC’s conservation efforts with partners;
•Community outreach strategies that effectively communicate TNC’s conservation messages and promote its conservation and community-involvement efforts;
•Producing publications and educational materials using graphic design tools, and creating and implementing media relations strategies to promote and increase public awareness of marine issues;
•Establishing and developing cooperative relationships with key individuals, community groups, local schools, universities, state and local agencies, and businesses to promote, expand, and implement TNC’s marine conservation outreach program;
•Developing, managing, and tracking project budgets and expenditures;
•Other projects as assigned.
The Project Coordinator reports to the Director of External Affairs and works closely with the Marine team. This position is currently funded for two years and is based out of the Oʻahu Office.
Basic Qualification:
•Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Environmental Education or related field and 2 years related experience or equivalent combination.
•Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
•Experience developing communications materials and projects, and ability to develop and present compelling messages to a variety of audiences in person, in print, and via social media.
•Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, to build support for conservation initiatives.
•Experience developing, tracking and managing multiple complex projects with others under tight deadlines with demonstrated attention to detail.
•Experience with MS Office suite of software, graphic design software, and navigating the Internet.
