Schofield Barracks
Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) performing project tasks to support the completion of conservation actions by the U.S. Army Garrison (USAG), Directorate of Public Works (DPW), Environmental Office, Natural Resources Section located at Schofield Barracks on Oahu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $2,573.00-$4,730.00 /Mon.
DUTIES: A primary goal is to ensure that the military mission is accomplished and that training opportunities are realized to the fullest extent possible in a manner consistent with Federal, State, and Army environmental quality policies. Work must be done in accordance with applicable Army, Federal, and State regulations and laws, especially regarding endangered species, safety and health, and pesticides.
Provides administrative and logistical support for Natural Resources Program management activities. Participates in various administrative tasks including routine purchasing. Maintains inventory of equipment, monitors program equipment and tools. Performs administrative tasks, such as making copies, scanning, driving to complete mail runs and receive/pick up and verify deliveries, and timesheet collection and submission. Maintains staff training files including staff training database entry. Assists with meeting logistics and note taking. Conducts in and out-processing of staff. Facilitates communication program-wide. Serves as a back-up communication hub, which includes answering phones and functioning as a base radio dispatcher.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.
EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of office experience.
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of office or business management. Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles. Knowledge of travel/lodging planning and scheduling. Knowledge of administrative and procurement procedures. General knowledge of office equipment and inventory process.
ABILITIES & SKILLS: Must be an excellent communicator, in writing and orally. Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet computer applications in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Proficient in internet usage. Must possess a valid driver’s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver’s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i’s No-Fault Driver’s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment.
Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a Department of Defense (DoD) security check for employment as an Army contractor. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to unclassified information. Must be able to complete basic helicopter safety course (A100) within six (6) months from date of hire. Must possess the American Red Cross Certification in First Aid/CPR (or be able to obtain the certificate following the training provided within three (3) months of hire) and maintain throughout duration of employment.
PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS: Conducts work under office conditions. Must be able to lift up to forty-five (45) pounds unassisted.
POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT: As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i’s and/or business entity's policies and procedures. Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).
SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic knowledge of biological principles and appreciation for biological resources, especially, pertaining to Hawaiian ecosystems. Knowledge, experience, or familiarity with OVPRI/Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i (RCUH) and Army policies and procedures. Knowledge of Army environmental compliance regulations including conducting regulatory/compliance inspections, writing reports and providing applicable training. Experience with logistical support. Experience working in an office to support biological field activities. Skills in technical support to include network, computer, printer, and fax/scanner trouble shooting. Proficient in database applications.
