OVERVIEW

Pono Pacific Land Management, LLC is seeking qualified candidates (full-time and part-time) to primarily conduct invasive vegetation management at several locations across Maui.  Vegetation management methods include weed whacking/brush cutting, fence construction, and applying herbicide.  The applicant must be capable of safely handling and operating hand/power tools, understanding herbicide labels and safety, and be able to work independently.  Other duties may include (but are not limited to) fence construction and maintenance, invasive species control, and native habitat restoration. Some travel may be required (particularly to Lānaʻi).

 

*Note:  While we recognize the inherent risks of using herbicide to control invasive vegetation, we and many leading conservation agencies understand that it is a valuable management tool when used correctly.

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time and part-time opportunities available
  • Weekday availability preferred, although weekends are possible. If applying for part-time, we’re willing to consider working around the applicant’s primary job schedule. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Internet access and email capability (for scheduling and HR purposes)
  • Ability to read and understand (English) equipment and product labels for safety and proper use
  • Ability to operate power tools such as weed trimmer or chainsaw
  • Experience/familiarity working with herbicide (basic safety, ability to calculate simple mixtures, etc.)
  • Be accountable and punctual
  • Follow directions and be able to work independently or in a small team

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hawaii Pesticide Applicators License (may increase pay)
  • Experience in conservation, land management, agriculture, ranching, or closely related field

 

COMPENSATION

$13+ per hour depending on qualifications.
