Position: Research Assistant Start date: 5/12/2014, permanent full-time position Location: Kunia research station, 94-340 Kunia Rd, Waipahu, HI 96797 Compensation: Salary depends on experience + benefits Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in a field of science, or 1-3 years experience in research Position summary: The position is directly involved in assisting the Kunia Farm Manager in research, training, and consulting. Knowledge in the areas of soil science, agronomy, irrigation engineering, statistics, and weed science are necessary for the position. The incumbent must be able to determine the research objectives, design, install, and manage field and laboratory experiments as well as analyze, interpret, and report the experimental results. A high level of problem solving ability involving skills in the above mentioned areas is required. Experience in statistical, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation computer hardware and software is also required. The incumbent also provides consultation and assistance to other professional staff relating to experiment design, irrigation, fertilization and weed control. This position requires a medium level of physical activity. One or more technicians may report to this position.
