This position is located with the Pacific Southwest Research Station in Hilo, HI.
This position is responsible for performing a variety of complex and recurring duties in support natural resource programs.

Responsibilities
- Duties listed are at the full performance level.
- Collecting samples, establishing tests and control plots for research on natural resources questions, as necessary.
- Conducting inventory of systems (Forest plots, watersheds) to record resource condition including any damage.
- Running computer programs to organize the data for analysis.
- Operating complex monitoring equipment for ecosystem functioning.
- Conducting routine laboratory and field-based analyses.
- Providing the data to professional personnel after checking it and developing explanations for unusually high or low figures or figures that seem inconsistent.
- Communicating results with stakeholders including other scientists at local, regional and national meetings, but also to members of the general public.
- Resolves common administrative and safety concerns related to the project.
- Utilizes topographic maps, photographs, and data that identify a variety of natural resource areas and conditions and drafts maps or diagrams of survey areas.
- Utilizes a variety of tools to collect and record data such as numbers, measurements, weights, sample dimensions, and special notes.
