PCSU FINANCE/ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST I – ID# 19036. 

 

Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit.  Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), Pacific Islands Science Center located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

 

MONTHLY SALARY:  Salary commensurate with qualifications. 

 

DUTIES:  Monitors project financial status and performs analysis for funding requirements to ensure projects are adequately funded.  Assists PCSU Unit Leader and PCSU Manager in coordination of fiscal management needs of the unit by performing financial, budget, data management, and other fiscal staff support services for Federal, State, and university programs as required. (This is a progression series job, see details described in Part III). 

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Accounting.  (Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college in Accounting and four to six (4-6) years of Federal funded accounting experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree).  EXPERIENCE:  One to three (1-3) years of experience working with financial statements or accounting, record-keeping, posting, document processing, database and word processing and spreadsheet applications.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and cost principles.  Ability to draw information and prepare fiscal reports.  Ability to perform ten-key by touch data entry and ability to work with word processing and spreadsheet and database software. POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:  As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i's and/or business entity's policies and procedures.  Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).  

 

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Familiarity with UH, RCUH and UH Foundation reports, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of government accounting principles.
