Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

This position is part of the Pacific Islands Fish and Wildlife Office. The primary responsibility of this position is, through a close working relationship with the Field Supervisor (GS-15}, overall leadership for the planning, development, implementation, administration, and integrity of the PIFWO's programmatic activities.

Responsibilities

Most of the conservation issues are significant and precedent setting, such as the culturally important release of the Hawaiian crow, assuring environmental compliance for interballistic missile testing from Hawaii to the Marshall Islands; and the use of rodenticides to eradicate rodent populations on islands critical to seabird survival and recovery.

This position supports the President's priorities on infrastructure and national security as well as the Secretary's priorities of restoring trust with our local communities and striking a regulatory balance. Both sets of priorities are addressed by the position's role in overseeing and facilitating environmental compliance and resource protection for billions of dollars of capital improvement projects across the Pacific, including military preparedness projects. This key field leadership position provides oversight to the entire office staff particularly in support of important recovery and regulatory work. The position is responsible for day-to-day operations and building efficiencies to meet the President's priorities on energy, infrastructure, military readiness and the needs of the public.
