Keauhou Bird Conservation Center
One position with the Kupu Conservation Leadership Development Program is available to join the Keauhou Bird Conservation Center. The team at this non-profit center in Volcano, Hawai‘i Island cares for, breeds, and releases critically endangered Hawaiian birds such as ‘alalā.
The member will learn and develop knowledge and skills important for career development, and will work alongside staff members and partners in a professional work environment. This is an exciting opportunity for early career professionals who are passionate about caring for and stewarding Hawaiian species.
All passionate and dedicated applicants who are excited to learn new skills are encouraged to apply! The selected candidate must be able to identify diverse colored identification tags on birds.
This is the perfect opportunity to do purposeful work to help save Hawaiian birds from extinction.
Program Dates:
January 7, 2019 - November 22, 2019 (11 months, full time)

Applicant Requirements:
1. Age - Applicants must be at least 17 years of age by the start date of the service term (due to AmeriCorps regulations).
2. Diploma - Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Citizenship - Applicants must be one of the following: a US Citizen, US National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien (due to AmeriCorps regulations).
5. Housing/Transportation - Applicants must have their own personal housing and transportation arrangements on-island.
