Kona
At the Kaʻūpūlehu Dryland Forest Preserve, members will be involved in various aspects of conservation
work including, but not limited to: invasive species management (weeds, ungulates, insects, etc.), native
plant restoration (identification, seed collection & processing, propagation, out-planting), fence
maintenance, irrigation installation and maintenance, community outreach and volunteer education,
overall site stewardship (trash removal, equipment, and facilities maintenance), and plant monitoring.

Applicant Requirements:
1. Age - Applicants must be at least 17 years of age by the start date of the service term (due to AmeriCorps regulations).
2. Diploma - Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Citizenship - Applicants must be one of the following: a US Citizen, US National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien (due to AmeriCorps regulations).
4. Criminal History Check - Applicants are subject to a criminal history check.
5. Housing/Transportation - Applicants must have their own personal housing and transportation arrangements on-island.
Working Conditions:
Hot and dry weather on ʻāʻā lava. The elevation ranges from 1600ʻ - 2100ʻ on Hualālai mountain within the ʻahupuaʻa of Kaʻūpūlehu in North Kona.
