LTG SENIOR OUTREACH PROGRAM SPECIALIST – ID# 18285.
Windward Community College. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Windward Community College, Learning To Grow (LTG) Project, located in Kaneohe, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications.
DUTIES: Develops and implements outreach program curricula and related educational materials, based on current research. Develops and implements plan for disseminating outreach program materials and tracking participation. Manages incentive program. Assists with collection and analysis of data, and preparation of reports. Assists with authoring and facilitating orientations, training workshops, and other presentations.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Family and Consumer Science, Family Resources, Elementary Education or related field. EXPERIENCE: Three to five (3-5) years of experience in educational or community setting working with young children (ages newborn to five (5) years old) and their families. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Knowledge of early childhood development; knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood care and education. Familiarity with home-based child care settings. Demonstrated ability to: independently and effectively apply problem solving strategies; to communicate well both orally and in writing; take current research to write effectively for diverse audiences; to work effectively with and build collaborative relationships with a range of people of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, including project team members, project collaborators, agency staff, early care and education providers, families, and community stakeholders; and to develop high quality materials for communication and educational purposes. Demonstrated skill in using word processing (MS Word preferred), spreadsheet (Excel preferred), and database (Access preferred) software, in internet search techniques and protocols, and in database creation and use. Must possess a valid driver’s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver’s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i’s No-Fault Driver’s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift and carry up to thirty (30) pounds unassisted. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of effective parenting practices and adult learning strategies. Knowledge of issues and trends related to comprehensive early childhood system development. Familiarity with public education system in Hawai‘i.
