This is a term appointment for which all qualified applicants with or without Federal status may apply and be considered. Appointment to this position, however, will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition.
As an Physical Scientist/Biologist within the National Climate Adaptation Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
- Assists Leadership with the implementation of the Pacific Islands (PI) Climate Adaptation Science Center Strategic Plan and Science Agenda.
- Helps monitor progress made toward reaching strategic goals, in addition to goals and objectives stated within the Annual Work Plan.
- Supports and/or leads development of existing and new PI CASC science-based initiatives.
- Assists or leads in the development and delivery of climate adaptation tools and processes.
- Supports the delivery of actionable science for informed decision-making through knowledge co-production and science translation.
- Provides facilitation and organizational support for meetings, workshops, and trainings with partners and stakeholders.
- Compiles, reviews, evaluates, and interprets regional climate science activities funded by the PI CASC, regional partners, and academic institutions.
- Assists with providing guidance, requirements, and standard operating procedures for maintaining the quality of research activities, processes, and products by the PI CASC.
- Represents the PI CASC at professional meetings with external cooperators, departmental and agency conferences, federal and state agencies, regional climate adaptation programs, regional community and cultural organizations, NGO's, academia, private industry, private research foundations, and public meetings.
- Operates a government vehicle as an incidental driver.
