Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Join us for the 3rd monthly shoreline cleanup at Pohoiki Beach. We have removed over 400 pounds of ocean-based trash from the shoreline each month. There's still a lot of work to do and hundreds of pounds of ghost nets left to haul off the beach. We will be cleaning an area at the far end of the beach - heading south. Its along this shoreline area that large amounts of ocean-based trash, plastics, and fishing nets are getting thrown onto the beach. Please help us to steward our beautiful 'Aina & Moana... the Land & Ocean. Mahalo!

Ways to be prepared for this event ---> Please bring trash bags and gloves to pick up trash with. Also, its important to bring enough water to stay hydrated while you're out on the beach - Make sure to bring Water. Be prepared to cut ghost nets that are along the shoreline, or to help haul bags of trash from the beach. Bring sharp tools that can cut the ghost netting... they are very hard to cut. If you are able to haul garbage to the transfer station after the cleanup, let us know.

* Once a month a meeting will be held at Uncle Roberts in Kalapana to discuss the cleanup and to educate volunteers.

* Sign in and register at event booth located at the old Pohoiki boat ramp. Check in with the volunteers at the event booth to find out where the cleanup group(s) are located on the shoreline.
